Mr. Joe Burns – Sanford Rose Associates:
Abstract: “According to the experts approximately 8,000 US workers per day for the next 15 years will retire from the full time workforce. What does this mean for those not planning to retire? What are some of the trends that will affect chemical industry employment in the next decade or more? Where will the jobs be and what kind of job skills will be necessary to get ahead?”
Mr. John Florio – King Industries:
Abstract: K-FLEX® Polyester Diols for VOC Compliant Systems; A range of polyester diols have been developed to assist the formulator in developing VOC compliant coatings. These unique diols are totally saturated, aliphatic, light stable resin modifiers, and they are supplied 100% active. In addition to their efficient viscosity reduction with low levels of solvents, these narrow molecular weight distribution diols provide excellent solubility in many different solvents, and they help to compatibilize other resins in some of the more difficult to use solvents including exempt solvents like t-butyl acetate and parachlorobenzotrifluoride. The unique structure and performance attributes of these diols provide a range of properties from hard to soft, but in all cases provide significant improvements in the flexibility of acrylic 2-component polyurethane systems.

PSCT provides partial support for 1 chemistry student at St Joseph’s University summer research program.
The PSCT support a student who does research and on TUE OCT 9, the student we support and other students and their sponsors were honored. Before the dinner, the students had opportunity to show their work through table top displays to the group. 90 students worked with 53 faculty members in 2012.
We were invited to attend to thank us for our support.
Dan was proud to represent the PSCT and our support of the St. Joseph’s chemistry department.
